Video presentations and music have been tightly connected with each other since the early 1980's and cable channels were created to present them. Some of the earliest 'Music Videos' specifically for television occurred in the late 1950's (not counting variety shows that has people on to sing). I think that the first one was 'Ricky Nelson' playing guitar and singing with a few other guitar players and a drummer. This launched his musical career and gave him access to millions of people. From these humble beginnings, people have continued to create songs and film footage that showcased the musicians. I remember when I saw the Beatles present 'Penny Lane' and 'Strawberry Fields Forever' on the Ed Sullivan show - they had recently decided not to tour anymore. What grew out of all these efforts to package songs and visual impressions is todays music industry - You almost can't do a song without a video for it - how else will it get into the video rotation shown on the Music Video Channels on Television?

You can learn how to do this and use the gear that you already own. While there is some very high end gear out there to do this all with, you can get by with what you already own in the way of a video cam-corder and your Personal Computer. You may have to buy a few things to make it all work, but my approach is one of low budgets and good enough quality for Internet Streaming. From here, you can get your message across and maybe find your audience. You may find a whole new career out of the effort.

Use your Cam-Corder and PC to make a Music Video

My favorite Music Video appears as a part of the Beatles 'Magical Mystery Tour' movie - when John Lennon performs 'I am the Walrus'. The music isn't synced very well to the actions and, to be honest, very little in the video makes much sense, but I think that was the intent of John Lennon - He claimed that he was tired of people attempting to interpret the meanings of Beatles songs, so, he gave them something truly bizzare to think about. The visuals, while badly edited, met that goal quite well. If you have a message, why not present it the way you want it shown?
